Neglect and Insignificance Series:
Neglect, Insignificance & Depression in Families.
It is time to distinguish abuse from neglect. We can easily recognize neglect in a house, street, room, garden, or a family pet, and we usually know how to repair the damage it causes. Yet recognizing neglect - especially emotional neglect - is far easier from the outside than from within a family. Its effects are both obvious and subtle but far-reaching, setting off a chain of adaptations that attempt to make up for what is missing.
